This package is a 1-day self-guided hike on the local hiking trail with 2 nights in a cosy hut. The trail goes through large forests, past beautiful rivers and through terrain that is typical for this specific part of the country. An easy and peaceful hike in the Bergslagen historic environment.
The trail is a total of 250 km long and divided into 27 stages, in this package you will hike along the beautiful stage 18. The package includes a hiking map of the stage, accommodation in charcoal hut where you sleep on an air mattress and sheepskin rugs in front of the stove, simple dinner day 1, to cook yourself over the fire, access to floating sauna for 2 hours (shared sauna). Breakfast as you like dinner do yourselves over the fire, dinner day 2 (boar wrap). You can choose to walk before overnighting, or the day after, you plan this yourselves.
STAGE DESCRIPTION The hike along the stage no 18 is basically only along forest paths, often through dense forest with young coniferous and deciduous trees. The exception is a short piece on a little road beyond the lake Dammen. The stage are easy to walk, and you pass only a few lower altitudes, perfect for beginners. To get to the start at Borntorpet from Kolarbyn you hike about 2km along a gravel road.
Once at Borntorpet goes the first kilometre of the hike along a jogging track. Shortly after crossing the second road you will come upon a small hill with a nice view. At the lake Dammen, the trail follows along the lakeside. A few kilometres further on, you reach the stage goal Lake Kolpen. Here is a shelter right down by the water where it’s fine to take a well-deserved break.
You can park your car at Borntorpet alternatively, hike about 2 km from Kolarbyn through the forest along a small dirt road. To get home when the stage is completed, take bus 500 that goes from Fagersta to Skinnskatteberg. You will find the bus stop if you continue the trail 2 km, then you will come to route 68. There is a bus stop for the bus. Bus 500 stops at the station in Skinnskatteberg. From the station you take bus 550 towards Koping, you get off the bus at the old folk high school in Skinnskatteberg, then walk 2km along the gravel road to Kolarbyn or Borntorpet. What might be good to bring on hike: The hike is but we recommend to use hiking boots, backpack with a change of clothes, rainwear, something to eat, drinks, first aid equipment. More suggestions for what to bring for the adventure in Kolarbyn you can find on the website.
NOTE! When you plan whether you want to hike before overnighting or the day after, we ask you to assume that we do not have staff in Kolarbyn 24 hours a day. Staff arrives in the morning and remain until just after 3:00 p.m. Incheck with a round walk in Kolarbyn takes place between 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you want to do the hike before overnighting, please let us know how you plan your hike so we know!

Time & Location: Incheck in Kolarbyn 14.00. There is no staff in Kolarbyn 24 hours around but a host will meet you during the in check time. During the in check, you will get a guided tour in Kolarbyn and get instruction how everything works and where to find everything. You have access to the charcoal huts from 14.00 arrival day until 11.00 departure day. Please let us know if you are planning walking before overnighting or the day after!
Included in the price: Hiking Map, 2-night lodging in a charcoal hut, dinner & breakfast at the campfire and you cook it yourselves and wild boar wrap för dinner day 2. Access to the sauna (2 hours, shared sauna, heat it yourself). Accommodation: Single bed in a hut for 2 persons, inflatable mattress and sheepskin to sleep on, you bring sleeping bag and pillow. This can also be rented for 150 SEK /per person. Firewood, candles, matches, and basic kitchen equipment for cooking over the fire are also included in the price.
